The J.J. Rawlings Foundation has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed eight lives on Wednesday, 6 August.
In a statement released on Thursday, August 7, the foundation described the loss as “a terrible and unbelievable one” and extended condolences to the families of the victims, the government, and the people of Ghana.
“We extend our utmost condolences to the President, the government and people of Ghana,” the statement said.
“Our heartfelt condolences go to all the families, friends and admirers of these men who passed serving God and country.”
The foundation also directed its sympathies to the Ghana Armed Forces, who lost three of their own in the line of duty.
“Our sympathies also go to the officers and men of the Ghana Armed Forces who lost their colleagues in the line of duty.”
Calling the event a “national tragedy”, the Foundation urged Ghanaians to reflect and join in prayer during this difficult time.
“Let us all pause to say a prayer for the souls of those who lost their lives. We are all affected by this tragedy.”
It ended with a message of hope and comfort for the nation.“We pray for divine strength and fortitude as we all mourn the souls of the dearly departed.”
