The National Youth Authority (NYA) has reiterated its commitment to empowering Ghana’s young people as the country joins the world in marking International Youth Day 2025, themed “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond.”
In a statement, CEO Osman A. Ayariga described Ghana’s youth as “the nation’s most valuable resource” and praised their growing role in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through innovation and community-driven initiatives.
From tech innovators digitising marketplaces to green entrepreneurs transforming waste management, and community advocates bridging education gaps, Ghana’s young change-makers are “turning global goals into local impact,” the statement noted.
Mr. Ayariga pledged that the NYA will work to transform youth-led ideas into funded, scalable projects, ensure youth representation in decision-making, and provide advanced training for the future job market.
This year’s Youth Festival has been postponed to honour the memory of national leaders who contributed significantly to youth development.
The NYA assured that new dates and related opportunities will be announced soon.
“The SDGs will be achieved through your local actions,” Mr. Ayariga told Ghana’s youth. “Keep leading. Keep inspiring. Ghana rises with you.”
International Youth Day, observed globally on August 12, celebrates the role of young people in shaping a more inclusive, sustainable, and prosperous future.
