NPP flagbearer candidate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says Ghana’s development will rely more on innovation and bold ideas than on available financial resources.
He believes the country’s transformation will be driven by creativity and problem-solving rather than the notion that “money is everything.”
Speaking to supporters on his nationwide campaign tour on November 14, Dr Bawumia urged Ghanaians—especially the youth—to rethink how they approach national development.
“We must understand that it is ideas that move nations, not money,” he said. “If we focus on innovation and creative thinking, we can change this country.”
He argued that many of the world’s advanced economies achieved their breakthroughs through innovation, technology, and strategic thinking, not wealth at the beginning. Ghana, he added, must adopt a similar mindset.
The Vice President-turned-presidential hopeful emphasised that meaningful progress comes from vision and the willingness to chart new paths. He encouraged young people to take ownership of the country’s future by developing solutions that respond to Ghana’s challenges.
Dr Bawumia has been campaigning on a message centred on digital transformation, economic reform, and youth empowerment as the New Patriotic Party prepares to elect its flagbearer.
He maintained that shifting national attitudes toward innovation could position Ghana for long-term growth.
“If we embrace creative thinking, we will find that the biggest resource we have is the ideas in our minds,” he added.
Dr Bawumia continues his tour across the regions as he seeks to convince delegates and the public of his vision for Ghana’s next phase of development.
