Immigration Service warns against fake SMS scams demanding fees for next phase of recruitment

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has issued a public alert, cautioning applicants in its ongoing recruitment exercise about misleading information, including fake SMS alerts, circulating on various media platforms.

These fraudulent messages falsely claim that certain applicants have passed the initial stage and must pay a fee to proceed to the next phase.

In a press release signed by Deputy Commissioner of Immigration Maud Mauima Quainoo on behalf of the Public Affairs Department, dated December 15, 2025, the GIS categorically stated that such messages are false and warned the public to disregard the fraudulent claims.

No Official Announcement on Next Phase

The GIS confirmed that neither the service nor its supervising body, the Ministry for the Interior, has announced the commencement of the next phase of the recruitment. Crucially, the application process itself remains open until the official deadline of December 19, 2025.

The GIS emphasised that any message demanding payment to advance in the process is a scam.

To safeguard applicants against falling victim to these schemes, the GIS provided clear guidelines on the official communication channels:

  • Sole Contact Methods: Applicants will be contacted only via SMS, the official email, and the specific phone numbers listed below, or by logging into the application portals on the C-SERP platform.
  • Fraud Warning: Applicants are strictly cautioned against engaging with fraudulent schemes, including “unauthorised protocols” or similar inducements that involve paying money outside the official process.

The official contact email and phone numbers provided by the GIS are:

  • Email: [email protected]
  • Phone Numbers: 0299330666, 0291513432, 0291513439, 0291513413, and 0291502173.

The public is strongly advised to refrain from engaging with any individual, group, or phone number disseminating these fraudulent messages and should rely strictly on official channels for all recruitment updates.
