The Attorney General, Dr Dominic Ayine, declared that he will oppose any claim for compensation in connection with the recent dropping of the high-profile cases.
Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday, February 12, to explain the dropping of the seven cases, Dr Ayine explained that no formal request for compensation has been made.
“I have not received any formal request for compensation, and as Attorney General, I will not encourage it,” he said.
He made it clear that his statement is not meant as a warning to deter anyone from making a request. “If any request for compensation comes, I will fight it,” Dr Ayine added.
He has also taken full responsibility for the high-profile cases that have been dropped, insisting that he was not directed by President John Dramani Mahama to do so.
