"If elected, I'll wage a fearless, compassionate war against poverty" - Dr Adutwum

New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, says his leadership will prioritise an aggressive and compassionate fight against poverty, should he be elected to lead the party and eventually become President.

In a post on his social media platform on Friday, November 21, Dr. Adutwum recounted the everyday struggles of citizens whose lives have been weighed down by economic hardship, saying these encounters have strengthened his resolve to champion policies that restore dignity and hope.

“I have looked into the eyes of mothers who skip meals so their children can eat. I have listened to fathers who feel defeated because their hard work still cannot provide,” he said.

“I have met young people who carry dreams bigger than their circumstances. These moments break me, and they fuel me.”

According to him, Ghana cannot continue on its current economic path, insisting that addressing poverty must become a national priority.

“This is why I say with my whole heart: Ghana cannot continue like this. Poverty must fall. If elected, I will wage a fearless, compassionate war against poverty,” he stated.

Dr. Adutwum promised to pursue practical, transformative policies rather than “empty promises,” stressing that his goal is to “restore dignity, rebuild hope, and rewrite futures.”

He extended his message directly to key groups across society: “To the market woman who wakes at 4am, to the young graduate still searching for a chance, to the farmer praying for fair prices, to the child who dreams beyond the limits of their environment. I see you. I hear you. And I will fight for you.”

The former Education Minister added that no Ghanaian should feel left behind under his leadership.

“No Ghanaian should feel forgotten. Not on my watch,” he said.

Dr. Adutwum urged delegates to vote for him in the upcoming NPP flagbearer contest.
