Gospel musician, Kwaku Kwame says he will soon start charging for his live concerts.

According to him, this has become very necessary to defray the cost of production.

He stated that more funds are required for such a concert, and selling tickets is one of the smartest ways to solicit funds.

Some individuals are of the opinion that gospel musicians must make their events free for all, as it is a form of ministry.

Speaking to Joy Prime’s Roselyn Felli in an interview on Prime Morning, Kwaku Kwame revealed that it is difficult to put such a mass event together with one’s personal funds.

“With live recordings, I’ll need more money to do that, there is logistics, and there are a lot of other things to do. It’s business; artistry is business, and it’s different from ministry,” he said.

He further added that there is a difference between ministry and artistry and that taking money for his concerts is part of remuneration for his creativity.

Kwaku Kwame indicated that he is an artiste and a minister of the gospel.

He said that his passion for the ministry is a calling. He defined ministry as strictly doing what God has called you to do, and the business aspect of it is artistry.

Kwaku Kwame also suggested that, “Sometimes when the call is there, you can’t run away from it. Several prophecies came to confirm that. It is where I think my passion lies; it’s fun doing ministry and artistry at the same time.”

The gospel musician disclosed that he has been in active ministry for 10 years, but his response to his call to ministry was when he was in senior high school.
