In a historic moment for the Dzita Traditional Area, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Anloga, Ms Sandra Seyram Kpedor, has pledged to usher in a new era of inclusive development, guided by the transformational vision of former President John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking at the 2025 Dzita Easter Homecoming Festival, Ms Kpedor expressed heartfelt gratitude to the former President for what she described as a landmark political appointment, noting that she is the first individual from the Dzita Traditional Area to hold such a high-profile political office since 1992.

“I am deeply honoured by this appointment and thankful to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for recognising the potential and strength of the people of Dzita. This is not just an appointment for me—it is a breakthrough for our entire community,” Ms Kpedor declared, to loud applause from residents and dignitaries gathered.

Positioning herself as a unifier and champion for the district’s transformation, Ms Kpedor unveiled her core commitment: to “reset Anloga” in line with the development blueprint of the former president. Her speech emphasised collaboration, accessibility, and a strong sense of duty to the people.

“I will ensure Anloga is reset—just as President John Dramani Mahama envisions. I will keep my doors open to every voice, every idea, and every concern. Together, we will write a new chapter for the district, one of opportunity, progress, and unity,” she affirmed.

Her remarks come at a time when residents and traditional leaders have been increasingly vocal about the need for accelerated development in the Anloga District, particularly in the areas of coastal protection, road infrastructure, youth employment, and market access for traders.

The DCE’s message was warmly received by the chiefs and people of Dzita, who see her appointment as a beacon of hope for the district. Many locals described her as a “daughter of the soil” who understands the challenges and aspirations of the people from within.

During the festival, several community stakeholders called for enhanced cooperation between traditional leaders, government agencies, and the office of the DCE to fast-track local development.

Community Expectations

Local expectations are high, and Ms Kpedor’s leadership will be measured by how well she addresses core issues such as:

  • Coastal erosion along the Dzita and Anloga coastline
  • Support for fisherfolk and women traders
  • Youth job creation and skills development
  • Improved access to health and educational facilities
  • Restoration of river transport links between Anyanui and Ada

As the first DCE from Dzita, and the first female DCE, Ms Kpedor carries the hopes of an entire generation. Her pledge to maintain open-door leadership and fulfil the reset vision for Anloga marks a bold beginning to what many hope will be a transformative chapter in the district’s political and development journey.

The 2025 Dzita Easter Homecoming Festival once again served as more than a cultural celebration—it was a rallying point for community pride, a spotlight on leadership, and a catalyst for change.
