Member of Parliament for the Kpando Constituency, Della Sowah, says she’ll continue to support the National Democratic Congress (NDC), despite her loss in the party’s recently held primaries.

Speaking on The Probe on Sunday, the defeated NDC lawmaker claimed that after the polls, she attempted to congratulate the winner of the primary, but she was denied the opportunity.

According to her, despite the ‘strange’ incident, she’ll continue to rally behind the NDC in the party’s quest to win the 2024 general election.

“Yes, I need to work with the PC elect. Unfortunately, yesterday I attempted to congratulate him and I was stopped from congratulating him which was strange.

“But I hope going forward, we’ll be able to work together to secure victory for the NDC”, she told the host, Blessed Sogah.

“Definitely I’ll contribute my quota. I’ll do everything possible in my constituency and outside my constituency to ensure that he [John Dramani Mahama] becomes the president come 2025. That is a must”, she added.

Touching on her future in the party, she stated that currently she has no immediate plans of staging a comeback; stressing that her focus now is to help the NDC return to power in 2024.

Della Sowah, who is a former Deputy Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, was amongst sixteen (16) incumbent NDC MPs who lost their bids in the party’s primaries on Saturday.

In her case, she polled 281 votes; as against Sebastian Fred Deh, who garnered 332 votes to clinch the candidacy.

In the South Tongu Constituency, incumbent Wisdom Kobena Woyome also lost his slot to Maxwell Kwame Lukutor.

In another interesting twist, A.B.A Fuseini, the MP for Sagnarigu, lost to newcomer Attah Issah, who secured 801 votes against Fuseini’s 330 votes.

Meanwhile, the party’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama says he’ll work with the MPs who lost their bids to ensure a united front for victory in 2024.

Delivering his acceptance speech at the University for Development Studies, Tamale Campus, the former president described the ousted MPs as heroes.

According to him, the experiences and resources of these individuals will be needed to steer the affairs of the country should the party be voted into office.
