I voted for Akufo-Addo in 2016 but abstained in 2020 over loss of confidence in politics - Senyo Hosi

Convenor of the One Ghana Movement and Trustee of the Ghana Coalition Against Galamsey, Senyo Hosi, has revealed that he voted for former President Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2016 general election but chose not to vote in 2020.

“Nana Addo, who we thought was coming to deal with everything, and I voted for him in 2016. In 2020, I couldn’t vote anymore, I couldn’t vote for anybody,” he revealed on JoyNews Newsfile on Saturday, October 11.

Mr Hosi explained that his decision to abstain stemmed from a loss of confidence in Ghana’s political system, driven by what he described as entrenched corruption. He added that the masses are equally losing confidence in the system.

“Both parties (NDC and NPP) must understand that Ghanaians are losing confidence in democracy itself. Largely because of the predominance of corruption,” he said. “We are losing confidence in politics because of things like this,” he added.

He lamented that successive governments have failed to take decisive action against corruption, often resorting to blame games rather than genuine reform. “Almost everybody comes into office with a strong argument of corruption about that government, and that government also leaves office with strong allegations against it. Are we going or are we coming? ,” he lamented.
