JOYCE BLESSING

Gospel singer, Joyce Blessing says she recorded and shot the video of her new single “Victory” the same day she received the lyrics from Kuami Eugene.

According to her, the “I Feel Nice” hitmaker called to inform her that he had finished writing the song and needed to know when she would be available to record.

But as enthusiastic as she is, Joyce Blessing rushed to the studio immediately to meet up with Kuami Eugene.

Upon seeing the lyrics, she was overwhelmed because they depicted her life story. So, she decided to record and shoot the video the same day due to her excitement.

The songstress made this revelation in an interview with KMJ the Royal host on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning on Tuesday.

“When I called him, he said he will call me the same week and that he was working on a song, but I should give him a week to get back to me. So, I thought it wouldn’t be possible because artistes are mostly busy.

“But he called the week after, as promised, to ask if I would be able to come over and listen to the song, and I told him I’d be coming right away. When I got to the studio, he asked when I want to record, and I said immediately. So, we recorded and shot the video the same day,” Joyce Blessing narrated.

She added that she had recorded a song for her “Victory Album” and was about to shoot the video. However, she paused it to shoot the new one because she foresaw the song going viral.

Given the circumstances and how the “Take Away” hitmaker hinted about writing a song for her, it was difficult to believe because she had prepared to release her album as part of her 10th anniversary celebration. But she later halted the publication to wait for the song.

Joyce Blessing confessed that Kuami Eugene is the creative mind behind the song, as he created the beat, directed, and edited the video.

The “Victory” singer commended him for the work he has put into the creation of the song.

Commenting on the artist’s efforts, she said, “he’s deep, listens to advice, and also inspires a lot. I really like him. God bless him for putting together this wonderful song with my name.”

She said she is grateful for the numerous feedback and streams she has received concerning the song since it was released.

Recently, some industry players and fans, especially the gospel fraternity, frowned on Kuami Eugene’s decision to write songs for gospel musicians because they think he is not part of them.

But in an interview on Adom FM‘s Work and Happiness show, the songstress said she sees nothing wrong with a secular artist writing a song for her, adding that all talents come from God.

According to her, the song was purposely created to freshen up her music career as she marks ten years in the industry.
