Black Stars forward Brandon Thomas-Asante says he hopes to continue scoring for the national team for a ‘very long time’ after registering his first goal on Wednesday evening.
Thomas-Asante scored the consolation goal for Ghana in a 2-1 defeat to Nigeria in the semifinals of the 2025 Unity Cup in London.
The Coventry City forward was only making his third appearance for the national team after being recalled into the setup.
“On the whole, it was a bit frustrating. This is the biggest game for us; we know we can win against these teams,” he said after the game.
“Frustrating on that note, but I’m also happy to score my first goal for Ghana, which I intend to do for a very long time.”
Despite only being a friendly, the G-Tech Community Stadium was almost full to the brim as fans joined in the rivalry.
Thomas-Asante was loving the atmosphere in West London for the game.
“It was amazing, it shows what football is about. Even though half of the fans are for you and half are against you, the whole atmosphere was amazing,” he continued.
“We want to see more days like this… We enjoyed it.
With the defeat to the Super Eagles, the Black Stars will now have to fight for a third-place playoff when they come up against Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday, May 31.
