I benefit from Mahama's deep communication experience - Felix Kwakye Ofosu

Government Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu says he benefits directly from President John Dramani Mahama’s deep experience in government communication.

The Abura Asebu-Kwamankese MP said the President’s background makes his work easier and strengthens the way government messages are delivered.

Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express, he said the President remains active in shaping public communication and pays close attention to how the government is perceived.

According to him, the President’s involvement provides clarity and confidence.

“Absolutely, and he’s very engaged, and he takes an interest in what we see, what the perceptions about government are. So every now and then, he touches base to find out exactly what is happening. So it helps.

“He himself has tons of experience in managing government communication, so I benefit a lot from his input, his insight, and the depth of understanding that he has in this area. So it is quite a blessing, fortuitous for me that I have a boss like that,” he said.

Mr Kwakye Ofosu revealed that the President has played a significant role in shaping his communication style. He said the President guided him early in his career.

“I think that in my younger years, he took an interest in me and tried to mould the way that I engaged. He always stressed the need to be civil.

He stressed the need to be patient and calm, and respectful of the audience. And every opportunity he gets, he urges my colleagues to cooperate with me so that together we can shape the way that government information is disseminated,” he added.

His comments come at a time when communication strategy has become central to the government’s governance approach.

President Mahama’s reputation as one of Ghana’s most recognisable communicators has often been referenced in political discussions, due to his long history as a spokesperson, minister, legislator, and communicator before becoming President.

Mr Kwakye Ofosu said this legacy continues to shape how information flows from government to the public.

He said the President’s hands-on guidance helps steady the communication machinery and strengthens cohesion across agencies.
