Over 500 young players and Ghanaian tennis coaches took part in a high-impact training session in Accra on the first day of the A10 Africa Tennis Foundation clinic.
Organized in partnership with the Ghana Tennis Federation, the two-day event began today and will conclude on Sunday, June 22.
The clinic is being led by two prominent tennis personalities: former President of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Katrina Adams, and former Bahamian professional tennis player Roger Smith.
The program features a coaching workshop, a tennis clinic for pre-selected youth, and a stakeholder forum themed: “Legacy: What’s Next for Ghana Tennis?”
Speaking after the first day, Chairperson of the A10 Africa Tennis Foundation, Shanti Ann, described the event as a major success:
“I thought it was fantastic. I think it’s brought together great legends and federations. It’s also built some kind of camaraderie amongst us to take more steps together as a team and to do more. With the children’s session, there was a huge turnout—some people couldn’t even get in because we exceeded capacity.
“That’s a really good sign. I really look forward to tomorrow, where we’ll cover different topics for coaching 13- to 17-year-old groups and the juniors.”
President of the Ghana Tennis Federation, Isaac Aboagye Duah, also praised the initiative and encouraged the participating coaches and athletes to make the most of the opportunity to sharpen their skills and help elevate tennis in Ghana.
