
The Human Rights Court (2) has reduced the bail of Dr Edwin Provencal, former Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) Company Limited, from GH¢60 million to GH¢30 million.
The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) had earlier granted Dr Provencal a GH¢60 million bail after his arrest at the Kotoka International Airport while he attempted to travel outside the country.
He is facing charges of causing financial loss to the state and money laundering, allegations he has denied.
His counsel, Mr Charles Okyere, applied for a variation of the bail conditions after Dr Provencal spent eight days in EOCO custody.
On Tuesday, the Court reduced the bail to GH¢30 million with two sureties and ordered Dr Provencal to deposit his passport with the court registry.
Dr Provencal was arrested on November 10, 2025, at the Kotoka International Airport when he attempted to board a flight to Maputo, Mozambique, allegedly without seeking the required authorisation.
There was spontaneous jubilation at the court premises as party sympathisers celebrated the reduction of the bail sum, shouting: “God is on your side, He will see you through.”
