The Group Chief Executive Officer of Nogora Pub, Winfred Dzamesi, has said that the popular joint would bounce back bigger after it was razed by fire on Wednesday, August 13 2025.
He stressed that, though the facility had no insurance cover, they would mobilise resources and put the place back in shape to resume business within the shortest possible time.
“We will put ourselves together and reconstruct the place. It will take us some time to do this, but we will bounce back bigger”, he emphasised in an interview with Myjoyonline.com.
He explained that the inferno destroyed about 80% of his structures, which included four of his shops, adding that over a million cedis of investment was lost to Wednesday’s inferno.
The shops that were affected were a boutique, a restaurant, a pub and an Indomie joint.
“Deep freezers, air-conditioners, fans, cooking utensils, and a whole lot. So far with the structure and all we have in there, we are looking at one million Ghana Cedis. That is the extent of damage”, he said.
Cause of Fire
He attributed the fire to a power fluctuation, explaining that the intermittent power supply experienced in the area on that day may have triggered the fire.
Mr. Dzamesi said that the fire which started from his boutique quickly spread through the chain of shops, making it difficult for them to fight it with domestic fire safety tools.
He entreated the authorities to take a critical look at power issues in the commercial enclave leading to the entrance of the Ho Technical University.
Extent of damage
Over 10 shops were razed in the fire outbreak in the enclave, situated about 150 metres from the entrance of the Ho Technical University.
No casualty was recorded in the inferno which took close to 2 hours to douse by fire officers from the Ho Municipal Fire Command.
Two tenders were dispatched to help contain the ravaging fire, which would have swept through the entire enclave if not for the timely arrival of the fire officers.
The Ho Municipal Commander, Divisional Officer II Seth Tey and his team visited the fire scene on Thursday morning to commence investigations into its cause. They were yet to communicate the result of the investigations at the time of filing this report.
