Seven armed robbers are reportedly on the run after launching a brazen highway robbery operation on the Kasoa-Winneba road, near Gomoa Potsin in the Central Region.
The attack occurred around 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, when the robbers blocked the main highway and fired multiple gunshots before robbing commuters.
Eyewitnesses report that the robbers made away with more than 1.7 million CFA francs, an undisclosed amount of Ghana cedis, mobile phones, gold jewellery, and other valuables.

According to residents who spoke to Adom News, the robbers took advantage of ongoing road construction in the area to stage their ambush.
Ebo Anderson, a local resident, revealed that the criminals struck twice—first at around 11:00 p.m., and again at approximately 2:00 a.m.
He further appealed to the Central Regional Minister, the Member of Parliament for Gomoa East, and national security agencies to intensify patrols and enhance security along the route.
The police have confirmed responding to distress calls during the robbery. A source said a deployment from Kasoa arrived after the robbers had bolted.
