‘He can’t get away with this’ - Rashid Tanko condemns assault by alleged soldier at pharmacy

The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Rashid Tanko Computer, has condemned the assault of a pharmacist and a customer in a pharmacy reportedly situated at Burma Camp, describing the act as “animalistic behaviour” that must not go unpunished.

Speaking on the AM show, Rashid Tanko expressed outrage over the incident and urged the security services to act swiftly in addressing the matter.

His comments come after a viral video showed a man, alleged to be a military officer in civilian clothing, physically assaulting pharmacy workers and a customer at a drug store located within Burma Camp, Accra.

According to eyewitness accounts, the altercation began after the man demanded a refund of GHS 65 for medication he had earlier sent a boy to purchase.

When the attendants explained that refunds could not be issued for opened drugs, the man reportedly became furious and attacked them.

In the video circulating on social media, the man is seen slapping a female customer before punching a male worker in the stomach and striking him across the face.

Mr Tanko said the viral footage reflects a broader concern about accountability and discipline among individuals linked to security agencies.

“We must monitor closely what goes on across social media and other platforms,” he said.

“This is an exciting time to be a Ghanaian — people are speaking up, and we must ensure justice is done.”

He added that conversations had already begun between relevant authorities since the incident occurred, stressing that “a lot of things are going to happen” in response.
