Gushegu MP Alhassan Tampuli hands over rebuilt girls’ dormitory, expands scholarship scheme

The Member of Parliament for Gushegu, Alhassan S. Tampuli, has officially handed over a newly constructed girls’ dormitory and an expanded dining hall at the Gushegu Senior High School, reaffirming his commitment to improving education infrastructure in the constituency.

Mr Tampuli announced the development in a Facebook post on Thursday, January 15, after a brief ceremony at the school where the facilities were formally presented to the Headmaster and the Gushegu Municipal Director of Education.

The projects followed the destruction of the original girls’ dormitory by a rainstorm, which forced the school to temporarily house students in the dining hall.

“I had the great pleasure of handing over the girls’ dormitory at the Gushegu SHS to the Headmaster and the Municipal Director of Education in Gushegu,” the MP stated, adding that he also formally handed over the dining hall, which had been rebuilt and expanded to accommodate the school’s growing student population.

He explained that the dining hall had previously been converted into a temporary shelter for female students after the storm damage, making its reconstruction and expansion a critical intervention.

Mr Tampuli commended the contractors who executed the projects, praising the quality of their work.

“I commend Afa Alidu Sabitu and Alhaji Star, contractors who executed the dormitory and dining hall projects respectively, for the excellent work,” he said.

During the ceremony, the MP assured school authorities and students of his continued support but also challenged students to improve their academic performance, particularly in their final examinations.

In line with this, he announced an expansion of his scholarship scheme. “Accordingly, I announced an increase in the number of students under my scholarship scheme to 300 students this year,” he revealed.

Mr Tampuli further disclosed that application notices for the scholarship scheme would soon be published for eligible students.
