The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic loss of eight lives, including two Ministers of State, in the military helicopter crash that occurred on August 6, 2025.
In a statement emanating from the Marketing and Corporate Affairs department, the Authority conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the Presidency, the bereaved families, the affected Ministries and the Ghana Armed Forces, describing the incident as a national tragedy.
“The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority joins the entire nation in mourning the untimely loss of these distinguished individuals who served the country with dedication and honour,” the statement read.
As a mark of respect and in line with the directive from the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, that all national flag be flown at half-mast across the country, the Port Authority has directed that all ports observe this directive.
The Authority further reaffirmed its solidarity with all affected institutions and called for national unity as the country comes to terms with the painful loss.
“May their souls rest in perfect peace. And may their families be comforted — today and always,” the statement concluded.
