In the wake of the devastating floods that swept through the picturesque landscapes of the Keta Municipality in the Volta region, hope has arrived from the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).

The maritime giant has stepped ashore with an outpouring of compassion, delivering not just relief items but a promise of resilience to the flood-affected communities.

As the floodwaters receded leaving behind a trail of destruction, the residents of Keta found themselves grappling with the enormity of rebuilding their lives.

The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, known for its role in maritime affairs, took a detour from its usual course, recognising the urgent need to assist those in distress.

A convoy of trucks laden with relief items rumbled through the streets of Keta, a beacon of hope for the weary residents. The GPHA team, led by the Senior Marketing and Corporate Affairs Officer, Kennedy Mornah, distributed loads of supplies, ranging from staple foods and clean water to, blankets, and essential hygiene products.

The relief items were not just material sustenance; they were a lifeline for a community struggling to find solid ground amidst the ruins.

In an impromptu gathering at one of the community centres, the Senior Marketing and Corporate Affairs Officer, Kennedy Mornah, addressed the gathered crowd, expressing the GPHA’s solidarity with the people of Keta.

“Our hearts go out to all those affected by the floods. As a part of the Ghanaian community, we must stand by each other during challenging times. Today, we bring not just relief items but a message of resilience and hope. We are with you every step of the way in rebuilding what the floods have taken away.”

According to Kennedy Mornah, the relief effort was not just a one-time distribution; it marked the beginning of a sustained commitment by the GPHA to support the rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in Keta.

The Authority pledged assistance in ongoing infrastructure restoration, vocational training programmes, and community development projects to ensure a comprehensive recovery for the affected areas.

Residents, visibly moved by the unexpected assistance, expressed their gratitude to GPHA for their timely intervention.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Keta, Emmanuel Gemegah remarked, “The support from the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority is like a ray of sunshine after the storm. It’s not just about the relief items; it’s about knowing that we are not alone in this journey of rebuilding.”

He added that the relief effort has not only provided tangible assistance but has also sown the seeds of resilience and community strength, reminding everyone that, even in the face of adversity, a united front can weather any storm.
