Gov't pledges massive infrastructure projects for Ada

Government has pledged massive infrastructure projects for the people of Ada, focusing on road construction, construction of markets and rehabilitation, and provision of potable.

This announcement was made during a speech read on behalf of President John Mahama by Ms. Nana Oye Bampoe Addo at the 88th anniversary of the Asafotufiami Festival in Ada.

She said as part of the “Big Push” initiative and the “24-Hour Plus Economy” policy, the government was investing $13.8 billion into road and infrastructure projects nationwide.

The Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of administration disclosed that the Finance Minister had announced in the Mid-Year Budget Review that approximately 5,000 kilometres of roads would be reconstructed across 166 constituencies over the next three years as part of this initiative.

She said the government was aware of Ada’s critical need for roads and specifically four key roads: From Kasseh to Adafoah, Adafoah to Togbokpe, Togbloku to Aminapah/Medie, and Kasseh to Assigbeykope.

The Deputy Chief of Staff said that the roads from Kasseh to Ada-Fpah and from Adafoah to Totope were very critical to the area’s economic fortunes.

In addition to roads, she said government would urgently rehabilitate markets in Ada-foah and Kasseh.

“Under the 24-Hour Economy policy, there is an annual allocation of $1 million to each District Assembly through the Common Fund.

“Part of this allocation is to be used to build modern markets and rehabilitate old markets to improve facilities such as storage and to boost commercial activities and trading, day and night,” she said.

Ms. Bampoe Addo said the annual allocation was also aimed at identifying peculiar challenges of communities, such as those confronting farmers and fishermen, and providing the needed industrial facilities to boost commercial activities.

She also emphasised that Ada, as Ghana’s salt and mineral hub, will not go untapped under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama.

She said the government was also working to resolve prevalent water challenges in the area.

“In April 2025, during an Executive Ministerial Leadership Retreat in Ada, the MP, Madam Doyoe, inspected an ongoing water project with the Minister of Works and Housing, the National Chairman of the NDC, the DCE, and the Assembly Member for the Pute Electoral Area,” she said.

The Deputy Chief of Staff assured them that the government would urgently resolve water challenges in several communities, including Otime-kope, Ocansey-kope, Mataheko, Anyakpo, Adedetse-kope, Suntsokpa, Patukope, Elevanyo, Pute, and Totopey.

She said government was committed to the welfare and prosperity of the people.
