The government of Ghana has condemned a drone-related incident near Dubai International Airport after two Ghanaian nationals sustained injuries on Tuesday, March 11, 2026.

In a press statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, authorities said they had been informed by officials in the United Arab Emirates about the incident, which occurred in the vicinity of the airport earlier in the day.

The drone event reportedly resulted in injuries to two Ghanaians who were present in the area at the time.

According to the ministry, the injured individuals are currently receiving medical treatment and their condition is not considered critical. Officials say they are expected to make a full recovery.

The ministry strongly condemned any act that endangers civilian lives or critical infrastructure, stressing that such incidents pose serious threats to public safety.

Authorities also highlighted the importance of protecting civilians and safeguarding key international transport hubs, including major airports.

The delegation offered support and reassured them of the government’s commitment to their welfare while they received treatment.

The ministry urged calm among the Ghanaian community in the region, noting that consular assistance is being provided to the victims while officials continue to work closely with authorities in the United Arab Emirates to monitor developments.

“The Ministry is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to engage with the appropriate authorities as required,” the statement said, adding that the government’s thoughts are with the injured individuals and their families.

The ministry reiterated Ghana’s long-standing commitment to protecting the welfare and safety of its citizens abroad, stressing that diplomatic missions around the world remain ready to provide assistance when necessary.

Officials also indicated that the government is supporting ongoing consultations within the United Nations aimed at passing a resolution seeking a cessation of hostilities linked to the broader security situation that may have contributed to such incidents.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it is coordinating with Ghana’s diplomatic missions in the region and will provide further updates as the situation develops.

Ghanaian nationals living or working across the Gulf region have been advised to remain vigilant and strictly comply with directives issued by Ghanaian embassies and local authorities to ensure their safety.

“Government wishes to use this opportunity to reiterate its call for our nationals in the Gulf region to always exercise heightened vigilance and comply with directives from Ghanaian embassies and local authorities,” the statement concluded.
