The Ministry of the Interior has announced a new curfew for Nalerigu Township and its surrounding areas in the North-East Region, effective Monday, January 5.

The curfew, instituted on the advice of the National Security Council through an Executive Instrument, will be in force from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am daily.

In a statement shared on Facebook, the Ministry urged chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and residents of the area to exercise restraint amid the ongoing challenges confronting the community.

“Government urges Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them, as well as to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace in the area.”

The government called on citizens to channel their energies through non-violent means to promote peace and security in the region.
