JOYCE OWUSU PURPLE TRENDZ

Founder and Creative Director of Purple Trendz Ghana, Joyce Owusu has urged business owners and startups to imbibe the habit of associating with people.

This, according to her, enables them to advance and develop their businesses.

In an interview on Prime Morning, she indicated that the success of her firm is due to the affiliations and networks she has created with people over the years.

Using herself as an example, she said, “I’ve heard it sometime ago that Joyce likes putting herself about. I don’t mind because if I go to a place right now, I’m able to identify who I know I’ll need in my social circle.”

This, she said, is significant because people are a necessity in business operations.

For this reason, she thinks it is good for people to put themselves forward, but in the right manner.

The creative director encouraged people to honour event invitations because they could serve as stepping stones to higher heights through collaboration.

“Do you know the calibre of people you’re going to meet there? You’re not going there just to take pictures. Go there, network with the right people, use the right approach, and trust me, you’ll do well,” she told Asieduwaa Akumia.

Having studied communication at the university, she said it was easier for her to associate with and build partnerships with individuals.

She further pointed out that young female entrepreneurs must properly position themselves in order to thrive in the sector.

“Don’t do it blindly. You may have the passion; you may want to do something, but make sure not to put yourself in a position that would stress you and make you a beggar,” the communicator added.

She also entreated female entrepreneurs to get other job alternatives to save money and become successfully empowered women.

The entrepreneur also revealed how her WhatsApp contacts helped raise funds to revamp her collapsing business.

“I realised that I have almost about thousand contacts on my phone. Most of them are on WhatsApp. So, I was able to put together a message asking each of them for 20 cedis in fund-raising, and I was shocked at the response,” she disclosed.

But every response is dependent on having the right networking skills.

Based on her experience, the creative director admonished aspiring entrepreneurs to make good use of their contacts and friends.
