Gold Empire Resources applauds gov’t crackdown on illegal mining; calls for prosecution of financiers and sponsors

Gold Empire Resources Ltd. has commended the government and various state agencies for their “swift and commendable action” in halting illegal mining operations on the company’s duly acquired Bonsu concession.

In a press statement released on Monday, January 12, 2026, the mining firm expressed sincere appreciation for the prompt attention and decisive steps taken following its formal reports of unlawful activities on the site.

The company noted that the rapid intervention by state institutions has been pivotal in maintaining public order and upholding the rule of law.

Gold Empire Resources characterised illegal mining as a “grave national concern”, citing its severe and far-reaching consequences for the environment, water bodies, and farmlands.  The statement emphasised that such activities not only threaten local livelihoods but also jeopardise legitimate investments within the mining industry. “The recent actions taken to address the situation on the Bonsu concession are therefore commendable and should be sustained to prevent any recurrence,” the management stated.

Call for Comprehensive Investigation

While acknowledging the success of the initial intervention, the company is now calling for a “thorough, impartial, and comprehensive investigation” into the illegal network operating on the concession.

Gold Empire Resources is urging authorities to look beyond the labourers on the ground and specifically identify:

  • Financiers and Sponsors: Those who facilitated and funded the unlawful operations.
  • Logistical Support: Any individuals or groups who provided access, protection, or logistical assistance.

The company requested that all perpetrators be prosecuted according to the laws of Ghana to ensure accountability and serve as a “strong deterrent” to others.

Commitment to Lawful Mining

Reaffirming its own values, Gold Empire Resources Ltd. stated it remains fully committed to responsible mining practices, environmental stewardship, and constructive engagement with its host communities.

The company expressed its readiness to cooperate fully with ongoing investigative efforts, including the provision of relevant information to support due process.
