Hope, many say, is the currency of progress. For the people of Obomeng in Ghana’s Kwahu region, that hope took on renewed significance when Obomenghene Nana Effah Opinamang III received an invitation to attend the 12th Annual Give Hope Gala & Auction in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA.
The event, held in November 2025, marked the start of a collaborative relationship that now stands poised to reshape key sectors of life within the community.
Give Hope Inc., the U.S.-based Christian humanitarian organisation hosting the chief, is known for its commitment to long-term, sustainable development.
The group operates on the principle that meaningful change is achieved through good health, strong education, and the influence of the Good News.
Unlike short-term relief efforts, Give Hope positions itself as an organisation that invests in people capable of effecting change from within their own communities.
During discussions with Give Hope Co-Founder Angela Braswell Quinn, she underscored this approach, noting that sustainability guides every project the organisation undertakes.
“Everything we do is sustainable,” Quinn said. “We create and train for the community to take care of itself.” Her comments reflect a strategy that has already taken shape in the nearby town of Pepease, where Give Hope has worked for the past four years, delivering programs in both education and healthcare.
According to Quinn, Give Hope’s expansion into Obomeng will officially begin in July 2026.
The organisation plans to launch several initiatives, including the establishment of a school library and a STEM laboratory designed to raise academic standards and introduce students to technology-driven learning.
A teacher training conference is also planned, alongside the hosting of a Vacation Bible School aimed at fostering spiritual growth and youth engagement.
On the healthcare front, Give Hope intends to provide medical equipment and offer professional training to local medical personnel, strengthening the community’s capacity to deliver essential services.
Obomenghene Nana Effah Opinamang III welcomed the initiative, expressing strong interest in the development prospects for his community.
Following his invitation to the United States, the chief praised Give Hope’s commitment and urged other Kwahu organisations and diaspora-based unions to support similar projects back home. His call to action highlighted the importance of collaboration between local leadership, international partners, and diaspora networks in advancing community development.
The emerging partnership between Give Hope Inc. and the people of Obomeng signals a new chapter of cooperation, one rooted in sustainability and community-driven progress.
As preparations continue ahead of the 2026 launch, residents and leaders alike are watching with cautious optimism. For Obomeng, hope is no longer an abstract ideal—it is becoming a structured, tangible plan for the future.
