The Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) has inducted 78 members into the class of Professional Engineers at its 39th Induction Ceremony held at the Engineers Centre, Roman Ridge, Accra,

The 78 newly inducted Professional Engineers consist of 33 Civil Engineers, 19 Electrical/Electronic Engineers, 18 Mechanical/Agric Engineers and eight Chemical/Mining Engineers.

Inducting the new Engineers, Ing. Ludwig Hesse, President-Elect of GhiE said he was grateful to present his speech on behalf of the President of the Institution, Ing. Kwabena Bempong, who is out of the country.

He acknowledged the role played by the Executive Director of the Institution, Ing. David Kwatia Nyante and his team at the Secretariat for continuously delivering flawless inductions and programmes for GhIE.

Ing. Hesse called on the newly inducted members to ensure they adhere strictly to the ethics and requirements of the institution in their various field of practice.

While admonition the newly inductees, Ing. Hesse said, “Engineers are in the helm of affairs of both public and private organisations for the delivery of engineering infrastructure, goods and services. Some, if not most of them belong to the GhIE.”

Chairman, Membership Committee of the Institution, Ing. Dr. Patrick Amoah Bekoe, giving his remarks during the event indicated that all candidates performed creditably well and therefore, deserves to be part of the professional class of the Institution.

Ing. Bekoe explained that the election to become a member of any of the occupational groups requires the member to have a minimum educational qualification and at least three year’s post-qualification experience.

He therefore promised that the struggling with delay in releasing results by examiners has been dealt with, hence the coming years will see some improvement.

The immediate past president of the institution, Ing. Prof. Charles Anum Adams, congratulated the inductees and advised them to further develop themselves to become productive to their various institutions.

He urged the newly inducted engineers to produce quality work that can stand the test of time and should be sustainable and socially relevant.

 In his closing remarks, the Executive Director of GhIE, Ing. David Kwatia Nyante, in a message read on his behalf by Ing. Ato Roberts, Chair of Electrical/Electronic division of GhIE, congratulated the new inductees for taking bold and necessary step required for practicing engineering in the country, in accordance with the Engineering Council Act, 2011 (Act 819) and Engineering Council Regulations, 2020 (LI 2410).

He urged them to take Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and mandatory annual Ethics certification seriously.

GhIE, as the leading professional body for engineers in the country, plays a vital role in promoting and upholding engineering excellence and standard across various industries.

The induction ceremony marks the recognition of achievements and expertise of engineers, who have undergone rigorous training and examination processes to earn their professional status.

The inductees were presented with certificates, symbolising their official recognition as professionals in the field, after swearing the Engineering Oath. Special awards were presented to some of the engineers that performed extraordinary in their exams. The awards were presented to Ing. Abdallah Dodo Saadu, in Civil Engineering division; Ing. Dr. Kenneth J. Bansah, Chemical/Mining division, and Ing. Ebenezer Sam from the Electrical/Electronic division.
