The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships in the education sector following discussions with the British High Commissioner to Ghana, Christian Rogge.

The meeting, held during a courtesy call at the Ministry of Education, focused on deepening bilateral cooperation and exploring new opportunities to advance education delivery in the country.

During the engagement, Mr Iddrisu outlined a series of ongoing reforms aimed at improving access, quality, and equity across all levels of education.

He emphasised government’s focus on strengthening foundational learning, expanding infrastructure, and promoting innovation to align Ghana’s education system with global standards.

The Minister also signalled Ghana’s openness to stronger international collaboration, indicating that the Ministry is prepared to grant accreditation to credible higher education institutions seeking to establish programmes or partner with local institutions.

He, however, stressed that such partnerships must be aligned with national development priorities and contribute directly to skills development and human capital growth.

For his part, the British High Commissioner, Mr Rogge, commended the government’s reform agenda and expressed the United Kingdom’s readiness to support Ghana’s education sector.

He reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening cooperation through strategic partnerships, capacity building, and knowledge exchange, aimed at enhancing outcomes across the education system.

The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to deepen ties between Ghana and the United Kingdom, particularly in key sectors such as education, where collaboration continues to play a vital role in driving development.
