Ghana Tourism Authority launches 'December in GH 2025' at Jubilee House

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, has launched the 2025 edition of December in GH at a colourful ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of Jubilee House in Accra on Sunday, 13th October 2025.

The event, attended by Mr. Julius Debrah, Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, brought together government officials, diplomats, creative industry stakeholders, and private sector representatives.

It marked the official start of Ghana’s festive end-of-year calendar, a celebration that has grown into one of Africa’s biggest showcases of culture, music, and heritage.

In her address, the Chief Executive Officer of the GTA highlighted the growing impact of the December in GH initiative in positioning Ghana as Africa’s preferred holiday destination. She noted that the 2025 edition would build on past successes by strengthening collaboration among the creative, hospitality, and events sectors to deliver world-class visitor experiences.

The Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture reaffirmed government’s commitment to developing the creative economy as a key pillar of national growth. “December in GH is more than a celebration; it is a showcase of Ghana’s energy, culture, and global appeal. It embodies our vision of a modern tourism economy driven by creativity, inclusivity, and innovation. This year’s edition will project our nation’s unique identity and strengthen Ghana’s position as Africa’s gateway for cultural and experiential tourism,” he said.

Delivering the keynote address, Mr Julius Debrah commended the Ministry and the GTA for their consistent efforts in promoting tourism as a driver of economic growth, job creation, and cultural exchange. He praised the initiative’s contribution to national branding and its positive impact on small and medium enterprises within the tourism value chain.

Mr Rex Omar, Head of the Black Star Experience Secretariat, underscored the creative industry’s central role in sustaining Ghana’s tourism revival. He said the Black Star Experience continues to serve as the heartbeat of December in GH, connecting global audiences with authentic Ghanaian stories.

“Our mission is to curate experiences that go beyond entertainment, to celebrate identity, creativity, and connection,” he said. “This year’s calendar reflects the growing confidence of our creative sector and its ability to drive tourism-led growth through innovation, partnerships, and excellence.”

The 2025 edition will feature a diverse lineup of events nationwide, including concerts, cultural festivals, food fairs, fashion shows, and diaspora reunions, all curated under the Black Star Experience platform. The official December in GH 2025 Calendar was unveiled, detailing approved activities for the festive season.

Since its introduction in 2019, December in GH has become a major part of Ghana’s tourism strategy, attracting thousands of visitors annually and boosting the country’s image as a hub of creativity and unity. Through partnerships with event organisers, the diaspora community, and local creatives, the GTA continues to promote an inclusive and sustainable tourism agenda.
