The government of Ghana is expected to receive a total of 1,229,620 Moderna vaccines on Saturday, September 4.

The vaccines were expected last week but the vehicle carting them from the manufacturing hub to the airport was involved in an accident in the US.

The Head of the Expanded Programme on Immunization at the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Kwame Amponsah-Achiano, had told 3FM‘s Alfred Ocansey that “we had prepared to receive Moderna only to be told that there had been an incident and therefore it could not arrive”.

All things being equal, the vaccines will arrive on Saturday just when the second jabs of the AstraZeneca vaccines are scheduled to end.

The Ministry of Information, which made this known in a tweet, also promised that 1.3 million Pfizer vaccines are expected in the country at the end of September.
