Ghana set for a dazzling Christmas 2025

Ghana is gearing up for one of its most vibrant Christmas seasons yet, with December 2025 shaping up as a month sparkling with music, lights, theatre and colour.

Through the December in GH 2025 programme, the Ghana Tourism Authority is inviting residents and visitors alike to experience the magic of the season firsthand—from festive streets and cultural celebrations to blockbuster concerts and family-friendly events where tradition meets creativity and the warmth of the Ghanaian holiday spirit fills every corner.

The festive calendar was set in motion on December 13 when Joy FM’s Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols signalled the season’s first spark, filling the Labadi Beach Hotel with harmonies and scripture in a reflective atmosphere.

From December 19 to 24, the Kwame Nkrumah Museum precinct will transform into a bustling cultural village with the Ghana Christmas Market. Visitors can expect handcrafted gifts, drumming circles, sizzling street food, and live performances—a celebration that blends commerce, culture, and community in true festive style.

Theatre lovers are also in for a treat as Uncle Ebo Whyte’s Festival of Plays returns with renewed force. Featuring productions that are comedic, reflective, and heartwarming, the festival continues to draw families and audiences seeking powerful storytelling during the Christmas season.

Along the coast, the Western Region will once again beat to its own festive rhythm. MasqFiesta 2025 takes over Takoradi on December 19 and returns from December 24 to 28, filling the streets with swirling masquerade costumes, brass bands, flamboyant masks, and infectious joy. The region’s masquerade culture remains one of Ghana’s most colourful Christmas expressions, with this year’s edition expected to draw record crowds.

The celebrations will carry into the New Year on January 1 with the iconic Winneba Masquerade Festival, a timeless display of artistry, competition, and community pride.

On Boxing Day, December 26, the cool hills of Aburi will come alive as the Aburi Botanical Gardens host Joy FM’s Family Party in the Park. With live performances from Kwabena Kwabena, Kwan Pa, and DopeNation, alongside cooking competitions and activities at Daddy’s Corner, the event continues its tradition of bringing families and generations together year after year.

Music lovers will also have their calendars marked for December 24 and 25, when Accra hosts two of the season’s biggest concerts, Stonebwoy’s Bhim Festival and Sarkodie’s Rapperholic Concert at the Grand Arena.

These events feed into the heartbeat of the season, Detty December, a month-long cultural movement that turns the capital into a living stage. From beach raves at Labadi and Kokrobite to art pop-ups in Osu, East Legon, and Airport, and late-night club events stretching from Oxford Street to Spintex, the city pulses with creativity and celebration well into the New Year.

Across the country, festive attractions from children’s festivals and Christmas tours to arts and crafts expos, neighbourhood concerts, and parties are lighting up communities and showcasing Ghana to the world.

Christmas in Ghana is no longer just a holiday; it is a spectacle of lights, music, culture, and shared joy. With many events lined up for the season, revellers are encouraged to celebrate responsibly.
