Ghana Police Model Basic School hosts groundbreaking nuclear science outreach

A single question sparked a powerful vision to open the world of science and technology to young Africans. That vision gave birth to the African Centre for Nuclear Education & Training
(ACNET), an initiative dedicated to inspiring and empowering the next generation to explore the boundless opportunities within nuclear science.

In partnership with Passion Bearers Worldwide, founded by Pastor John Bosco Brempong, ACNET launched its first outreach program on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the Ghana Police Model Basic School in Accra.

The event reached over 260 students, introducing them to the wonders of nuclear science through interactive learning, lively discussions, and engaging demonstrations.

The session began with a question: “How many of you have heard of Nuclear Science?” To everyone’s surprise, very few hands were raised. Yet, after just a few hours of engaging exploration and discovery, the question was asked again at the end of the session, and every student’s hand went up, a powerful symbol of curiosity awakened and potential unlocked.

“This was more than just an educational session,” said Innocent Y. Tsorxe, founder of ACNET. “It was a transformation. Students left not only informed but inspired to dream bigger and
see themselves as part of Africa’s scientific future.”

During the program, Pastor John Bosco Brempong encouraged the students to take their learning seriously and to live their lives with purity and purpose, reminding them that education is not just about knowledge but about shaping character and making meaningful contributions to society.

ACNET’s founder, Innocent Y. Tsorxe, also shared his personal journey. He initially pursued General Art in high school to steer away from science. However, his introduction to college-
Level science courses rekindled his passion, ultimately leading him to become a scientist.

He emphasised to the students that any dream can be achieved through hard work and commitment, inspiring them to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields, especially encouraging our young girls.

The collaboration with Passion Bearers Worldwide, an organisation with over 11 years of experience in youth-focused educational initiatives, brought energy and expertise to the programme’s success.

ACNET expressed heartfelt appreciation to Madam Florence, the headmistress of the school and teachers at Ghana Police Model Basic School for their warm support and partnership in making this initiative impactful for the young boys and girls.
