The Ghana Export-Import Bank (GEXIM) on Wednesday, March 25, launched a two-day international conference to commemorate its 10th anniversary, highlighting the institution’s pivotal role in fostering trade and industrial development in Ghana.

Hon. Sylvester Adinam Mensah, Chief Executive of GEXIM, delivered the opening address, emphasising the significance of the bank’s decade-long journey and its sustained mandate.

“Reaching ten years as an institution is significant, but even more significant is the purpose that has sustained the journey and what lies ahead of us,” he said.

Established in 2016, GEXIM was conceived to expand Ghana’s productive capacity, support export trade, and contribute to industrial growth. Over the years, the bank has remained committed to this mandate, even as the economic landscape has evolved and new challenges have emerged.

The theme of the conference, “A Decade of Enabling Trade and Industrial Transformation: Resetting GEXIM for the Next Frontier”, underscores the dual focus of reflection and forward planning. The event provides a platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas and explore strategies to position GEXIM for the future.

Hon. Mensah highlighted the importance of collaboration, noting the presence of a distinguished gathering of national and regional stakeholders. “Your participation enriches this conference and reinforces the value of collective thinking in addressing national and regional economic priorities,” he said.

He expressed hope that the discussions would be both practical and forward-looking, aimed at strengthening partnerships and generating actionable ideas for GEXIM’s next chapter.

“On behalf of the Board, Management and Staff of GEXIM, I extend to you a warm welcome and my sincere appreciation for your presence,” he said.

The conference, which runs until Thursday, March 26, will feature sessions focused on trade facilitation, industrial financing, and strategies for boosting Ghana’s position in the global market.

The conference aims to attract national and international trade experts, as well as business people from the export and import sectors and firms across the designated industries.

The first day of the conference promises a robust agenda featuring a blend of high-level addresses, expert panels, and cultural performances.

The Vice President, H.E. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, is scheduled to grace the event, highlighting the government’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s trade and industrial sector.

A series of thought-provoking panel discussions will feature eminent speakers such as Prof. Randolph Nsor-Ambala, CEO of Development Bank Ghana; Dr. Daniel Fahene Acquaye, Founder and CEO of Agri-Impact; Bright Darko, former Head of SME Banking at GEXIM; and Eric Nkusi Bukeye, FAGACE Representative in Rwanda.
