As the 25th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s ascension to the Moroccan throne is celebrated, Ghana and Morocco have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral and multilateral ties, marking a significant milestone in their relationship.

The announcement came during a ceremony held in Accra on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, by Herbert Krapa, Ghana’s Minister of State at the Ministry of Energy, and Imane Ouaadil, the Moroccan Ambassador to Ghana.

The event brought together representatives from the Moroccan community in Ghana, diplomats, state officials, parliamentarians, and traditional and religious leaders.

Ambassador Ouaadil highlighted the dynamic growth in economic relations between the two countries and underscored the importance of cultural and academic collaborations in fostering fruitful cooperation.

“The relationship between our two countries is stronger now than ever before,” Ambassador Ouaadil remarked, expressing optimism about deepening partnerships across various sectors of mutual interest.

She noted King Mohammed VI’s proactive approach to African integration, emphasizing his visits and agreements covering infrastructure, health, education, and agriculture, strengthening Morocco’s ties with numerous African nations, including Ghana.

Reflecting on the significance of the 25th anniversary, Ambassador Ouaadil praised Morocco’s transformation under King Mohammed VI’s leadership, citing substantial economic growth and structural reforms aimed at innovation, attracting foreign investment, and modernizing infrastructure.

Minister Herbert Krapa commended the Moroccan people on their King’s anniversary and acknowledged Ghana’s longstanding cultural and economic connections with Morocco.

Minister Krapa affirmed the ongoing cooperation in crucial sectors such as energy, tourism, and agriculture, highlighting the progress and potential of the relationship between Ghana and Morocco.

He encouraged Moroccan businesses to explore investment opportunities in Ghana under the African Continental Free Trade Area initiative, underscoring Ghana’s commitment to facilitating trade and economic partnerships.

The celebrations underscored the shared commitment of Ghana and Morocco to further strengthen their relations for sustainable development and prosperity in both nations.
