GES sets Sept 17 for 2025 school placement exercise

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that the nationwide school placement exercise for 2025 will commence on Wednesday, September 17.

The process follows the release of the provisional results of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

At a media briefing on Wednesday, August 27, the Director-General of the GES, Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, explained that successful candidates would be required to report to their respective senior high schools between October 18 and October 20.

He noted that this year’s placement exercise had been designed to minimise errors and enhance transparency.

To achieve this, a review window has been introduced to enable candidates to verify their details on the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) portal, www.csses.gov.gh.

“To reduce errors associated with school placement, candidates will have the opportunity to review the entries they have made—gender, school code, programme code—online at www.csses.gov.gh.

“This will be supported by an explainer video to guide parents. The review exercise begins on September 1 and ends on September 8,” Professor Davis said.

He also cautioned parents and candidates against paying money to middlemen in an attempt to secure preferred schools, stressing that placement is determined solely by merit and the established selection process.

“The actual placement exercise will commence on September 17. Students are expected to report to campus and begin their studies between October 18 and 20. Nobody should pay anyone for placement,” he warned.
