GES secures financial clearance to pay 6,249 newly recruited teachers

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that it has received financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance for the payment of salaries owed to the remaining 6,249 teachers who were recruited in 2024.

In a statement issued on Thursday, October 16, and signed by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, the GES said the clearance will enable it to complete all the necessary administrative processes to ensure that the affected teachers receive their due salaries.

“The Ghana Education Service (GES) announces that financial clearance has been granted for the payment of salaries of the remaining six thousand two hundred and forty-nine (6,249) teachers recruited in 2024,” the statement read.

“This approval allows the Ghana Education Service to complete all necessary processes to ensure the staff receive their salaries,” it added.

According to the release, the financial clearance will expire on December 31, but the Service assured that all affected teachers will be placed on the mechanised payroll in time for their November 2025 salary payments.

“Although this financial clearance expires on December 31, Management of GES will ensure that all staff are placed on the mechanised payroll in time for November 2025 payments,” the statement said.

Management of the GES also expressed appreciation to staff for their patience and dedication, pledging to continue working towards timely and accurate salary processing.

“Management thanks all staff for their dedication and remains committed to facilitating timely and accurate salary payments.”
