GES dismisses claims of ‘Secret Recruitment’ and bribery allegations

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed claims circulating on social and traditional media suggesting that there is a clandestine recruitment exercise underway and that prospective applicants are being asked to pay large sums of money to secure employment.

In a press release issued on Friday, December 12, Management of the GES described the allegations including reports aired on Adom FM that individuals are paying up to GH¢25,000 to gain recruitment as false and misleading.

According to the Service, the claims do not reflect the reality of current recruitment processes. Management explained that following the extension of financial clearance in October 2025 for the onboarding of 2024 applicants whose clearances had expired, the GES resumed the onboarding process.

This exercise, the Service noted, has resulted in the issuance of new appointment letters in some cases. Management clarified that individuals who were previously issued with fake appointment letters could not be onboarded and were therefore given legitimate appointment letters at no cost. The new letters, the GES stressed, were issued free of charge.

“Following the extension of the financial clearance in October 2025 for the onboarding of the 2024 applicants whose clearance expired, Management resumed the process of onboarding. The process has resulted in issuance of new letters in some cases. For instance, those who were recruited on fake letters had to be issued new appointment letters since they could not be onboarded with the fake letters. These new letters were issued free of charge,” the statement read.

The Service has urged the public to remain vigilant and to report any individual who demands money in exchange for recruitment into the GES to the security agencies.

“Anybody who has evidence, or who has been approached to pay any amount of money, should report the person requesting the money,” the statement said.

GES further emphasised that its established recruitment procedures remain unchanged. Management assured the public that when financial clearance is obtained for a new round of recruitment, an official announcement will be made inviting all qualified candidates to apply.

“The recruitment process is open, transparent, and free of charge,” the statement concluded.

The Service urged applicants to rely solely on official communication from the Service and to disregard unverified claims circulating in the media.
