GCB Bank has once again celebrated its loyal customers who emerged winners in the second and third monthly draws of its ongoing Pa-To-Pa Promo, a nationwide savings initiative aimed at recognising loyalty, encouraging deposits, and strengthening engagement with customers.

The awards ceremony, held at the food court of Accra Mall on March 13, brought together bank executives, customers and stakeholders, including representatives of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), regional and branch managers of the bank, members of the media, and the latest batch of prize winners.

The Pa-To-Pa Promo, launched in December, is designed to reward customers who consistently save while giving them the opportunity to win a variety of prizes, including an all-expenses-paid trip to watch international football matches abroad.

Mr Kamagate noted that the promotion also taps into Ghanaians’ passion for football by offering customers the opportunity to experience international matches.

“We know how well Ghanaians love football, and through this promo we want our customers to enjoy that excitement and have the opportunity to watch the Black Stars play from the stands,” he added.

He indicated that the ceremony marked the presentation of prizes for the second and third months, with only a few months remaining before the grand finale.

“Today we are going to reward our winners for the second and then the third month. This leaves us with just one month and then the grand one where the people who will travel will be named,” he said.

Mr Kamagate encouraged customers to continue saving to accumulate points and increase their chances of winning.

“All you need to do is save in multiples of 300 Ghana cedis. For every 300 Ghana cedis you deposit, you earn a point,” he explained.

He also urged customers with dormant accounts to reactivate them.

“To our customers whose accounts have gone dormant, this is an opportunity for you to come back home, reactivate your account, win a point and continue depositing to accumulate more points,” he said.

Details of the Promotion

Liability Product Manager at GCB Bank, Richard Wobil, elaborated on the simplicity and inclusiveness of the promotion.

According to Mr Wobil, the initiative targets existing customers, those with dormant accounts, and even new customers who may wish to open accounts with the bank.

“All those who have accounts with us are qualified to be part of the promo. Customers who have dormant accounts only need to reactivate them, and they even get an automatic point before they start depositing,” he said.

He explained that maintaining deposits over a longer period allows customers to accumulate more points.

“If you deposit 300 Ghana cedis and maintain it for a month, you get a point. If you maintain that same amount for the entire five months, you are getting five points with the same 300 cedis,” he said.

Mr Wobil encouraged customers to maintain their deposits and continue adding to them.

“When you deposit, don’t touch it. Maintain it, and you will keep accumulating points. The more points you get, the better your chances of winning,” he advised.

Grand Prize Excitement

Five lucky customers will travel to the Americas to watch the Ghana national football team compete at the FIFA World Cup.

“The first match will be watched in Toronto. After that, GCB will fly the winners to Boston to watch the second match, and then to Philadelphia to watch the third match,” Mr Wobil explained.

He noted that all costs, including visa applications, flights, accommodation, transportation, and insurance, will be covered by GCB Bank.

National Lottery Authority Assures Fairness

An official from the National Lottery Authority, which supervised the draw, commended the initiative and assured participants that the process was conducted fairly and transparently.

“I come with the warmest greetings from the National Lottery Authority to all present here. We are thrilled to be part of this exciting journey. The NLA is the sole organisation mandated by law to regulate, supervise and conduct all lottery activities involving elements of chance,” said the NLA representative.

“As a regulator, I can confidently confirm that all winners present today were selected fairly and truly reflect the promo. Congratulations to all winners.”

He opened by affirming the bank’s dedication and reliability:

“It’s not just a fluke; what you have witnessed is a demonstration of what GCB is as a bank.”

Mr Kamagate then expressed gratitude to customers for their continued support and encouraged wider participation:

“When we promise, we overdeliver. And to our customers who have joined us both online and in person, we want to thank you for the continued business you do with us, and we want to encourage more of you to join so that the competition will be keener and a lot more interesting.”

Looking forward, he highlighted the next stage of the promo:

“Next month, we are going to have the penultimate before we do the final and the final draw.”

He also spoke about the special opportunity available to customers who have recently reactivated their accounts:

“What excites us about the final draw is that we could have a customer who has just reactivated his account, getting the opportunity to travel through the Caritas process.”

Reinforcing GCB Bank’s inclusive approach, Mr Kamagate stated that the promotion demonstrates just how inclusive the bank is.

He emphasised that the rewards extend beyond simply building points, saying, “We are not just rewarding those who build our points, but we are also rewarding for loyalty.”

He concluded his address with heartfelt thanks to all attendees: I want to thank all of you for joining us today.

Speaking shortly after the event, Mr. Kamagate elaborated on the significance of the event and the mechanics of the “Pa To Pa” savings promotion, highlighting the bank’s commitment to delivering on its promises.

“What you have observed today is a rendition of the fact that GCB, when we promise, we deliver. If you remember, we were with you on the 22nd of December when we did the launch of our Pa To Pa promo, a promo that was intended to provide the opportunity to our customers to save, build points, and qualify for various awards.”

He also provided a glimpse of the grand finale, revealing that five lucky customers will win an all-expenses-paid trip to watch the Ghana national football team compete at the FIFA World Cup in the Americas.

He explained the prize timeline, noting that the promotion spans four months, with monthly prizes awarded to top-performing customers and a grand finale scheduled for May, based on savings made in April.

He outlined the simple participation process, noting that every GCB customer earns one point for every GH¢300 deposited. At the end of each month, customers are ranked by points, with the top ten receiving rewards.

He highlighted that prizes for the second and third months of the promotion had already been distributed to customers, setting the stage for the remaining rounds in March and April ahead of the grand finale.

He encouraged customers to continue saving and taking part in the promo:

“That leads us to just the month of March and then April. To customers who haven’t partaken in this whole thing, we are encouraging them to save in multiples.”

The executive also extended an invitation to new and returning customers:

“And to those who are out of GCB, this is an opportunity for you to join the bank. You can go online, you can go to the GCB website, and you can open an account. You can download our mobile app from any of the stores and then open an account. This qualifies you. And to our customers who, for one reason or another,r have stayed out of GCB for some time, it’s an opportunity for you to reactivate your account. If you reactivate, you build a point.”

He noted the inclusive nature of the promotion, saying that the top four customers in the rankings automatically qualify, but there is also a raffle with the Caritas Group in which any participating customer can be randomly selected. Even those who deposit as little as GH¢300 have the chance to be chosen to join the top four who accumulate points.

Calling on all to participate, he said: “This is a call to all Ghanaians that your bank has been around for 73 years and has never failed on its promise. It’s calling you again to come, do what you are always used to doing.”

On the excitement awaiting grand prize winners, he added:

“Let’s travel together and watch the Black Stars as they play Croatia, Panama, and our own colonial masters, England, where we will deal with them and show them that there’s one thing about colonization and there’s another about soccer. So thank you all for joining.”

Responding to questions about the frequency of such promos, he clarified:

“From time to time, as part of our gamification process, we engage our customers through loyalty programs. Over the years, we have run several such initiatives. Last year, some customers enjoyed a holiday to Dubai, and in early January, others also traveled abroad. These programs are part of our ongoing efforts to connect with and reward our customers.”

Looking ahead, he encouraged customers to anticipate bigger experiences:

“So look out for the next one, after this one, in May. And that may even be bigger than what you are seeing now.”

He concluded with a reminder of GCB’s long-term commitment to its customers:

“So we say that at GCB, when you join us, we are your bankers for life, and you are our customers for life. And so we go beyond just to keep the relationship.”
