As part of its continued commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, GBfoods Ghana, in collaboration with the Forestry Commission of Ghana, has successfully planted 1,000 trees in the Chipa Forest Reserve in Dodowa. The initiative forms a key component of the company’s global sustainability framework, Project Earth, and reflects GBfoods’ long-term commitment to environmental stewardship and community impact.
The tree-planting event, held in June, brought together employees of GBfoods and representatives of the Forestry Commission. The event supports Ghana’s national reforestation efforts and contributes directly to global climate action and land restoration objectives.
Project Earth, GBfoods’ overarching sustainability initiative, is anchored on three key pillars:
- Healthy Dietary Choices – promoting wholesome nutrition and healthy lifestyles
- Social Impact – creating positive change in the communities we serve
- Environmental Stewardship – advancing sustainability through responsible environmental practices

“This tree planting initiative is more than just a symbolic act. It represents GBfoods’ enduring pledge to contribute to climate change mitigation through reforestation and ecological restoration. It aligns with our Project Earth agenda and supports Ghana’s environmental goals under the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land),” said Mr. David Afflu, General Manager of GBfoods Ghana.
The trees planted include a mix of indigenous and climate-resilient species that were carefully selected by forestry experts to support long-term biodiversity and ecological balance in the Chipa Forest Reserve. The collaboration with the Forestry Commission ensured that the activity met national reforestation standards and best practices for ecosystem regeneration.

This initiative also supports carbon sequestration, aids in the restoration of degraded lands, and contributes to the long-term resilience of local forest ecosystems. It underscores GBfoods’ belief that corporations have a critical role to play in protecting the environment while fostering social development.
The dedication of GBfoods Ghana employees, who volunteered their time and effort, was instrumental in the success of this initiative. Their active participation not only demonstrates their commitment to our sustainability goals but also embodies our core value of proximity, fostering a closer connection with the communities we serve.
GBfoods Ghana remains committed to integrating sustainability into every aspect of its operations, while continuing to nourish families, enrich communities, and protect the planet.
