God’s Angel Montessori International School (GAMI) recently organised an enriching educational tour to Aburi Botanical Gardens as part of their annual programme, offering pupils an opportunity to connect with Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and history.

The tour provided learners with a unique chance to explore the gardens and learn about their historical significance, with roots dating back to the colonial era. Known for its natural beauty, Aburi Gardens has played a key role in shaping Ghana’s national identity.

Learners were eager to dive into the gardens’ rich history, gaining insights into its role in Ghana’s cultural legacy.

Mr. Victor Kemetse, the Headmaster of the Pre-school Department at GAMI, emphasised the importance of such educational initiatives, stating, “Programs like this are essential in broadening students’ understanding of the natural environment. These tours complement their academic learning by providing hands-on experiences that enhance their overall education,” he said.

The Primary Department at GAMI also focuses heavily on practical learning, as highlighted by Mr. Samuel Ghunney, the Headmaster. He explained that the tour is a crucial part of the school’s Social Studies curriculum, helping students develop a deeper connection with their environment.

“This initiative is an important part of our curriculum,” said Mr. Ghunney. “It provides students with the opportunity to apply what they have learned in the classroom in a real-world context, enriching their educational journey.”

It was amazing to see its role in shaping the country and learn about its impact on our culture,” another student added, “This tour was really eye-opening. It connected what we study in school with the real world, and I’ve learned so much more about our history.”

The educational tour to Aburi Gardens is just one example of how God’s Angel Montessori International School (GAMI) continues to provide students with valuable opportunities to connect academic lessons with practical experiences.

The school’s commitment to hands-on learning ensures that students not only gain knowledge but also develop a deeper understanding of their cultural heritage.
