In a significant step towards strengthening climate diplomacy and youth empowerment, a delegation from Future Leaders Model United Nations, Ghana (FLMUN-Ghana), led by its President and Country Director, Prince Anuwar-Sadat Amadu, paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency Manish Gupta, the Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, last week.
The delegation comprised Queen Nihad Titiaka Oases Ibrahim, Director of Climate Action and Sustainability at FLMUN-Ghana and winner of Ghana’s Most Beautiful 2024, as well as Mr Nana Akwasi Sarpong, Director of Administration.
The meeting was further honoured by the presence of Mr Sunil Kumar, Second Secretary at the Indian High Commission.
Discussions centred on the development of strategic partnerships in areas such as climate action, afforestation, technical cooperation, and youth exchange initiatives.
The delegation also introduced Queen Titiaka’s flagship project under her EcoGreen Oases Legacy, titled “Empowering Communities for Climate Action”.
The initiative aims to drive grassroots environmental transformation through afforestation, waste management, clean cooking solutions, and community engagement.
According to Mr Amadu, the High Commissioner warmly received the proposals, expressing his support for the afforestation campaign and showing keen interest in facilitating India-Ghana youth exchange programmes.
This initiative, he noted, could offer transformative learning and development opportunities for Ghanaian youth.
“This meeting marks a significant milestone in our efforts to foster global partnerships that empower young leaders, enhance climate resilience, and strengthen South-South cooperation,” said Prince Sadat.
“We are confident that this collaboration will contribute meaningfully to our shared vision of a greener and more sustainable future.”
Speaking after the meeting, Queen Nihad Titiaka shared her appreciation and aspirations:
“As Ghana’s Most Beautiful 2024, my mission has always been clear—beauty must serve, inspire, and heal. Every door we knock on, every tree we plant, every young mind we empower is a step towards the future we deserve. I am truly humbled by the High Commission’s commitment to supporting our afforestation campaign and their pledge to facilitate a youth exchange programme. I do not wear a crown for show; I carry a responsibility—and with our partners, we shall make this vision flourish.”
Future Leaders MUN-Ghana has evolved into a dynamic youth-led movement committed to nurturing future leaders in diplomacy, sustainable development, and environmental advocacy.
This latest engagement reaffirms the organisation’s growing international presence and its focus on leveraging global collaboration for local impact.
With Queen Nihad Titiaka spearheading the climate initiative through her national platform, the partnership with the Indian High Commission is expected to significantly amplify the reach and impact of the EcoGreen Oases Legacy campaign.
This visit comes at a time when climate advocacy is taking centre stage globally, and partnerships of this nature are vital in equipping the next generation of African leaders to become true changemakers in sustainability.
