Under the terms of the contract, the South African company, Fresenius Medical Care (FMC), provides the dialysis machines at no cost, but the teaching hospital is obligated to purchase all the accessories solely from FMC.

The minority claims that FMC is pricing the accessories higher than the prevailing market rates.

“The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in consultation with the Minister of Health has initiated discussion with (FMC) for more flexible payment options and the structures suppliers of consumables to avoid excessive delays and to ensure delivery of understanding 45 dialysis machine and auxiliary equipment,” he said.

But speaking of JoyNews, a minority member on Parliament’s Health Committee and former Chief Whip, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak has demanded to see the contract before any review is undertaken.
