The free SHS, technical and vocation education and training policy by the government, is building a solid foundation for the youth to identify and develop their skills and talents in various fields.

Madam Shirley Tiwaa Kyei, NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Atwima Nwabiagya South, said the initiative was paving way for equal and sustainable employment opportunities which would remain in the hands of the youth for many years to come.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony and distribution of start-up kits for some trained hairdressers, seamstresses and tailors at Abuakwa, she said the skills and knowledge acquired at their youthful age would remain their bonafide property that would bring joyful benefits and earnings throughout their lives.

The training programme was sponsored by the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) in partnership with the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Assembly, under the Business in the Box project of the Master Card Foundation.

A total of 154 graduants received tools made up of hair dryers, sewing machines, as well as financial assistance to establish their businesses to generate income and work to employ others.

Madam Tiwaa Kyei said the youth must develop confidence in themselves, have a vision and continue to sharpen their skills to be able to upgrade and expand their businesses.
