Former Jasikan MCE returns to Bawumia camp

Former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Jasikan, Elizabeth Kessewaah Anim Adjornor, has announced her decision to return to the camp of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, describing the move as one guided by conviction, conscience and consistency.

In a press statement dated December 18, 2025, and issued from Kasoa in the Central Region, Anim Adjornor said she was formally informing the general public, party members and well-wishers of her return to support Dr. Bawumia .

“I wish to formally inform the general public, party faithful, and all well-wishers of my decision to return to the camp of His Excellency, the former Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” she stated.

She explained that the decision followed “deep personal reflection and sincere consultation,” and made it clear that her move should not be interpreted as hostility towards former Minister for Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong.

“I wish to state clearly that I bear no grudge whatsoever against Bryan Acheampong. He remains a fine gentleman, a credible leader, and a man whose future in national leadership remains bright.”

According to her, her association with Mr Acheampong was built on mutual respect, which she said still remains intact.

However, she said her return to Dr. Bawumia’s camp was driven by a strong sense of belonging and belief in his leadership.

“My heart continues to yearn for the political home where I once belonged. I am convinced, beyond doubt, that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia represents the vision, discipline, and forward-looking leadership that Ghana needs at this critical stage of our democratic journey.”

She described her decision as “a decision of conviction, conscience, and consistency,” rather than one motivated by personal gain.

In the statement, Anim Adjornor also rendered what she described as an “unreserved apology” to Dr. Bawumia, acknowledging that her previous public support for Acheampong may have affected support for the former Vice President.

“Although I never issued any unpalatable or derogatory statement against him, I acknowledge that my public support for Bryan Acheampong may have inadvertently drawn a considerable number of people away from the DMB camp,” she said.

“This was never my intention, and I regret any inconvenience or misunderstanding my actions may have caused.”

She therefore appealed to her supporters who may have followed her away from Dr. Bawumia’s camp to return with her.

“Accordingly, I humbly entreat all supporters, associates, and sympathisers who left the DMB camp on my account to return home, just as I have done,” she said, adding that “our collective strength lies in unity, loyalty, and a shared belief in credible leadership.”

Touching on issues of integrity and credibility, the former MCE said her political actions have always been guided by principle.

“I have always stood for integrity, consistency, and principled politics,” she said. “My decision today is not driven by opportunism but by honesty and faithfulness to my long-held beliefs.”

She further noted that leaders must have the courage to correct their course when conscience demands it.

“I believe leaders must have the courage to correct their paths when conscience demands it, and this return reflects my commitment to transparent and credible political engagement,” she stated.

She reaffirmed her commitment to working with all stakeholders to advance the vision and leadership of Dr. Bawumia.

“I remain committed to working tirelessly with all stakeholders to advance the cause, vision, and leadership of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the greater good of our party and our nation,” she said, ending the statement with a message of goodwill to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“Thank you, and may the NPP continue to prosper.”
