A former employee of the Bomaa Government Hospital, Richard Ohene Boakye has filed a lawsuit at the Sunyani High Court against the hospital and the Ghana Health Service, alleging his unlawful arrest and detention, as well as defamation.

According to court documents, the plaintiff claims that the hospital caused his arrest and detention over an amount of GHs115,483.07 that was allegedly paid into his account.

However, the plaintiff denies receiving the money, stating that he was on a terminated study leave contract at the time of the alleged payment.

The plaintiff further alleges that his staff Identification number was given to another employee, Richard Ohene Djan, an enrolled nurse, who may have been the actual beneficiary of the payment.

The plaintiff claims that this has damaged his reputation and career prospects.

He is seeking one million Ghana Cedis in damages for defamation and unlawful arrest and detention, demanding that the hospital and the Ghana Health Service take responsibility for their actions.
