Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams is encouraging other federations to follow the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) example and make their bodies more impactful.

Adams made the call during an engagement with sports stakeholders earlier this week.

There have been extensive discussions about why football and the GFA receive substantial government investment, while other federations struggle to attract similar support.

Currently, 46 sporting federations are registered under the National Sports Authority, but their relevance has been a topic of debate, with many questioning whether they truly deserve their status as recognised federations.

“The story of the GFA should guide all of us on what we must do with our federations,” Adams said.

“We need to leave here knowing very well that football didn’t just gain the attention it’s getting by chance – something happened to give it that attention.

“It didn’t just wake up one morning and start receiving this level of recognition. We need to understand what happened and learn from it to bring similar progress to our federations.
