Annoh Dompreh and Kennedy Agyapong

Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh has denied ever saying that Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, is not fit to contest for president.

According to him, Mr Agypong has been spreading such rumours with the claim that some persons informed him about it.

In denying the claims, Mr Annoh-Dompreh said it is unfortunate that the Assin Central MP would spread such rumours without verifying, adding that Mr Agyapong has been one of the colleagues he respects in the House.

Addressing the press on Tuesday, Mr Annoh-Dompreh said “if you (Kennedy Agyapong) hears an allegation, you should have at least called me. Now, I have to speak to you through this medium because several efforts to reach out to you have proved unfortunately futile.”

He added that “I feel a bit hurt. I feel very hurt because anybody who knows me knows I don’t do politics of attack. Even my opponents, I don’t attack them, so how much more somebody who is one of our own.”

The Majority Chief Whip challenged Mr Agyapong to reveal the names of the persons who told him such lies, adding that he has received many calls asking if he had any conflict with his colleague.

Mr Annoh Dompreh said he has a lot of responsibilities in parliament and does not want this incident to distract him from his job.

The MP said “I will also advise him that he should leave me. I’m just a small fly concentrating on my whip job in this difficult parliament. He shouldn’t distract my attention. He should focus on his presidential campaign bid and leave me alone, let me concentrate on my job. I have a lot of responsibilities and a lot of jobs to do.”

“Ordinarily, I would not have responded through this medium, but I hear the thing has gone far. You want to be president. I didn’t ask you to go and contest. So he should simply focus on his presidential bid,” Mr Annoh-Dompreh added.
