The Ashanti Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has reported a tragic road accident at Adansi Akrokerri junction on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, which resulted in one death.
According to the GNFS, the incident occurred around 3:19 p.m. when a Hyundai minivan (AS 8655-20) traveling toward Obuasi engaged in wrongful overtaking and collided head-on with a Kumasi-bound Hyundai truck (AS 3948-24).
The minivan driver died at the scene, while two occupants of the truck sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital.
Both vehicles suffered significant frontal damage, with the truck veering into a ditch due to the impact.
The body of the deceased was later extricated and handed over to the Jacobu District Police.
Leading the rescue operation, LFM Boateng of the Fomena Fire Station emphasised the importance of road safety.
“Wrongful overtaking is a major cause of fatal accidents. Motorists must adhere to traffic regulations to protect lives,” he said.
The GNFS reiterated its commitment to prompt and professional emergency response, urging all road users to exercise caution to prevent similar tragedies.
