Fashion Forum Africa announces launch of its first-ever Alternative Fashion Fabric Fair in Accra

Fashion Forum Africa proudly unveils the Alternative Fashion Fabric Fair (Alt.FFF), a groundbreaking three-day trade event that places materials at the heart of fashion innovation.

Scheduled for Wednesday, July 16 to Friday, July 18, 2026, at the Palm Convention Centre – La Palm Royal Beach Hotel- Accra, the Alt.FFF is set to transform how manufacturers, designers, and innovators across the continent think about sourcing and using materials.

The Alt.FFF redefines the fashion industry experience by shifting the spotlight from finished garments to the very materials that bring them to life. At its core are raw, processed, and semi-processed fibres, fabrics, and innovative textile forms that hold cultural significance, sustainable value, and future-facing potential.

This first-of-its-kind platform showcases the makers, producers, and innovators shaping Africa’s material story; placing their work at the forefront of the industry’s next chapter.

The curated showcase will feature Artisan and installations that highlight heritage and craftsmanship; Innovation displays and hybrid collaborations that spotlight cutting-edge material technology; Panel discussions and intimate studio conversations to deepen industry insights; and Storytelling sessions that explore heritage, sustainability, and material futures.

The fair aims to promote local material economies, reduce over-reliance on imports, and promote Pan-African as well as worldwide trade in the fashion and textile manufacturing value chain.

Exhibitors from not just Ghana’s 16 regions but also across the continent are invited to participate, with tailored packages available for producers, artisans, and entrepreneurs.

Makeba Boateng, Curator and Founder of the Alternative Fashion Fabric Fair, emphasised the importance of this new platform.

“The Alt.FFF is more than a fair, it’s a movement to reimagine how African fashion sources, designs, and innovates.

“By spotlighting the locally produced materials that shape our garments, we’re not only preserving cultural heritage but also paving the way for more sustainable and future-facing practices.

“This is our opportunity to not just tell but sell the story of Africa’s material wealth on a global stage.”

The Alternative Fashion Fabric Fair offers a unique opportunity for businesses in textiles, fabrics, accessories, and raw material processing to connect with designers, global buyers, and collaborators eager to explore sustainable and culturally relevant and alternative materials.

Interested exhibitors can register at www.fashionforumafrica.com or send enquiries to [email protected], and can also contact us at +233 (0) 541177573.

This fair is being supported by the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Institute of Textiles and Fashion Practitioners (ITFP), the National Commission on Culture (NCC) and the Ghana Culture Forum (GCF).
